
On Thursday, N.C. Secretary of Natural and Cultural Resources Susi Hamilton announced five new inductees into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
This year’s inductees are the hip-hop producer and rapper, 9th Wonder, of Winston-Salem; the producer and musician, Mitch Easter, also of Winston-Salem; the two-time Grammy Award-winning bluegrass musician, Merle Watson, of Deep Gap; Grammy Award-winning hip-hop musician and actor, Big Daddy Kane of Raleigh; and the legendary, Grammy Award-winning blues and folk musician, Elizabeth Cotten, of Carrboro.
The announcement was made ahead of the induction ceremony, which will be held in Kannapolis, NC, on October 17, and will include performances by NCMHOF inductees. Merle Watson’s family, pictured above, was present at the announcement.
