This morning, UNC announced that renowned folk artist and banjo player Abigail Washburn would be delivering a “pop-up performance” on the steps of its stately Wilson Library this afternoon. The performance begins at 3:25 p.m., and is in celebration of the undergrad students going abroad to Asia this summer and fall. Though Washburn is known chiefly in American folk music circles, she’s fluent in Mandarin and regularly integrates traditional Chinese songs into her work.
