We’ve got a bunch of videos and a full review on deck from Future Islands’ 1000th-show celebration yesterday, but while those are still in the works, we’ve got a roundup of photos from the all-day party at Carrboro Town Commons. The day began with Lonnie Walker’s rock before sliding into metal with Valient Thorr, hip-hop with Danny Brown and shimmery electronic pop and pranks with Dan Deacon.

Future Islands’ Sam Herring spent a good bit of the band’s set explaining Future Islands’ extensive history playing shows across the state, including early dates in Carrboro and Chapel Hill. He seemed just as thrilled to be there as everyone else in the packed crowd. It was a beautiful day celebrating for some of North Carolina’s favorite native sons.
