The Foreign Exchange announces Tales From the Land of Milk and Honey

With only a few days until The Foreign Exchange’s big Sunday, July 12, concert at Durham Performing Arts Center with soul compatriot Eric Roberson and reunited R&B duo Floetry, the Phonte-and-Nicolay-led band has just announced an Aug. 21 release date for its sixth album, Tales From the Land of Milk and Honey.

The announcement comes on the heels of producer Nicolay’s latest installment in his soul-excavating delves into foreign territory, City Lights Vol. 3: Soweto. From the looks of the unveiled album cover, the new record also pushes longtime Foreign Exchange collaborators ZO!, Carmen Rodgers and Tamisha Waden to official positions in the band.

While the consensus for The Foreign Exchange’s previous release, 2013’s Love in Flying Colors, drifted between it being a “grand and glowing” effort and it “sitting in the same grooves for too long,” Tales From the Land seems slated to offer recompense by turning this Grammy-nominated band’s usual servings into a potluck of soul surprises.
