The lineup for this year’s World of Bluegrass festival, which comes to Raleigh with the International Bluegrass Music Association awards and conference, keeps getting better.
The festival just announced that Del McCoury is now a part of the Saturday, Oct. 4, show. He’ll play a special 90-minute set that celebrates the legendary guitarist’s 75th birthday. The set will come in three pieces: first, a half-hour of the Travelin’ McCourys and Keller Williams, followed by another half-hour of the Del McCoury Band. LeeAnn Womack joins the Del McCoury band for the final third of McCoury’s set.
The McCoury addition enriches an already-stacked weekend that includes Steep Canyon Rangers, Béla Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Hot Rize, Chatham County Line and dozens more. There’s also the not-to-miss superjam on Friday, featuring Fleck, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, Stuart Duncan, Jerry Douglas and Bryan Sutton. Tickets for those shows are available here.
For those on a tight budget, no worries—there are still plenty of free shows and events going on that have yet to be announced (and the festival often features a handful of special surprises, too).
