If you’ve spent much time in the Triangle music scene, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ve crossed paths with Matt Douglas, the thoroughly talented multi-instrumentalist whose résumé includes work with The Hot at Nights, The Mountain Goats, Josh Ritter, The Small Ponds, and many more.
In just a few weeks, Douglas is releasing a solo record of all-woodwinds material, titled Affirmation (with Discomfort). You can listen to the album’s second song, “No. 2: Caution,” below. If you’ve been charmed by records from fellow forward-thinking sax players Colin Stetson or Jonah Parzen-Johnson in recent years, you’ll find plenty to love in Douglas’s newest work, too.
Affirmation (with Discomfort) is out on April 6, and you can preorder it via Bandcamp.
