- Come on, ride the gator: Hammer no More the Fingers in 2011
As if Saturday wasn’t busyenoughalready, the 6th Jamnesia takes place Saturday in rural Hillsborough. It’s a festival in a field, one with 11 acts and bring-your-own-tent camping, hosted by Durty Durham Art Collective. And some musicians’ bios list their set times as “early in the night,” “before midnight, but later in the evening,” or “after midnight.” Sounds like quite the party…
Maybe, though, that’s what sets Jamnesia apart – it seems squarely focused on fun. Native Durham band-of-buddies Hammer no More the Fingers (set time: “mid-evening”) have always skewed to the jammy, good-times side of indie-pop, while headlining DJ Queen Plz closes the night with an uninhibited dance party. Earlier in the evening, Raleigh producer and rapper ☥ennis Rodman brings twisted, trap-leaning hip-hop, like a dystopic Block Beattaz/Cities Aviv collaboration. So if you wanna party in the woods, tickets are $20 in advance and $30 day of.
