Patrick Phelan and his newly dubbed Luego TV project will release their third album, TV, next week. Recorded in Nashville along with his usual cohorts Jeff Crawford producing and Nick Jaeger on lead guitar, Phelan found inspiration from some unlikely sources: “The biggest inspiration for the record were some idols of mine: Eddie George, LeBron James, Jack White, Bill Clinton, Michael Jordan. I just thought about those guys during the record, especially Eddie George and Jack White, since they both lived in Nashville. Eddie George is just a renaissance man. He is the ultimate dude—Heisman trophy winner, NFL running back, landscape architect, MBA, published author, fitness guru.”

Luego’s live shows generally reflect a gathering of friends happy to have their schedules align, but Phelan wants Luego TV to be something more than his band: “I felt that Luego had become more than a band or moniker. It became a platform. A place where people could be their badass selves. Luego became a spirit, a mentality.”

Luego TV and friends gather together to release TV on July 20 at The Pinhook in Durham. Until then, here is the solo acoustic version of “Send Me On Time,” recorded at Amplified Art in Raleigh last year.
