The reunited Backsliders returned to The Pour House in Raleigh Saturday night. After getting back together nearly a year ago, the band finally seems to be moving past the reunited, return-to-glory stage and making a creative turn. To wit, Saturday’s set featured a batch of new covers and originals. The energy level was high; resident soundman Jac Cain, who mixed many Backsliders sets at The Brewery long ago, even remarked that the evening’s performance ranked among his top-three all time from The Backsliders.
Chip Robinson also announced that The Backsliders will be the last band to play the famed Hillsborough Street bar Sadlack’s when it shuts down after Dec. 31. Might wanna reconsider those New Year’s Eve plans.
