Remember A Mouthfulla Sacco & Vanzetti, Shakespeare & Originals’ 2000 slapstick revision of the infamous anarchist trial? Burning Coal Theatre returns to similar grounds–and methods–in Nobel laureate Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist, opening this weekend at Peace College’s Leggett Theater. Fo’s improbable comedy examines the Italian police’s culpability in the “accidental” death of anarchist Giuseppi Pinelli, a pacifist and anarchist detained after the 1969 bombing of the Agricultural Bank in Milan. In this broad commedia dell’arte political farce, can an escaped madman impersonating a government inspector trick corrupt policemen into revealing the truth? Find out Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through May 22. Tickets are $13-$15; call 834-4001 or visit www.burningcoal.org.
