Apex man charged with murder after another man’s drug overdose

The Apex Police Department have arrested an Apex man in connection to a fatal heroin overdose.

William Tyler Mayhew, 23, or Purple Glory Driver in Apex, was charged for first-degree murder in the death of Eric William Darden, 23, or Apex. Darden died of a suspected heroin overdose.

Mayhew was released from prison last December after an eight-month sentence following DWI and hit and run charges stemming from the same 2013 incident.
