Once described as “the most beautiful woman in Vienna,” Alma Schindler was both a brilliant young musician and muse to many great artists in turn-of-the-century Vienna. Bride of the Wind, the newest film from director Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy, Double Jeopardy), chronicles Schindler’s early years, including her tumultuous marriages to Gustav Mahler and architect Walter Gropius and her affairs with painter Oskar Kokoschka and Gustav Klimt and novelist Franz Werfel. Sarah Wynter stars as Alma, opposite Tony award-winner Jonathan Pryce, who portrays Gustav Mahler. See “Opening Friday” for theaters.
