To celebrate the arrival of spring (and the rapidly nearing end of the semester), both Duke and UNC Chapel Hill are hosting some of the biggest names in hip-hop. On Wednesday, April 21, Kanye West, Dilated Peoples and 9th Wonder of Little Brother will appear in the quad at Duke for a free “Last Day of Classes” concert at 7 p.m. West, Roc-A-Fella Records artist and Jay-Z producer, is currently touring for his autobiographical record, ironically titled “College Dropout.” For more information, visit www.duke.edu.

At the Dean Dome on Thursday night is Nas, given name Nasir Jones. Garnering acclaim from fellow hip-hoppers for records like “God’s Son,” (which was subsequently remixed by Durham’s 9th Wonder to great effect), his songs offer a unique view of life growing up in Long Island, NY. $10 UNC students, $25 non-students.
