We had a bad feeling after learning the campaign bus of Clay Aiken broke down this morning.
Unfortunately, that was likely the high point of the Democratic challenger’s day. By a margin of 59–41, incumbent Republican Renee Ellmers defeated Aiken who ran a spirited and aggressive campaign, for the U.S. House District 2.
We can’t access the precinct results because the State Board of Elections site is down, but we’re predicting that Aiken likely had the edge in Wake and portions of Chatham County, but lost in the more conservative areas of the district, including Randolph County.
