There are now no Republicans left on the Wake County Board of Commissioners.

Democratic challengers Sig Hutchinson, Matt Calabria, Jessica Holmes and John Burns beat their Republican incumbent challengers in County Districts 1, 2, 3 and 7 respectively—and handily—by close to, or more than ten percent, of the vote.

Running as a bloc, the Democrats challenged incumbents Joe Bryan, Phil Matthews, Rich Gianni and Paul Coble on education funding, teacher pay, transit and the environment.

They join Democratic Commissioners Caroline Sullivan, James West and Betty Lou Ward in the super (super) majority.
