Berkeley’s Laurie Lewis, twice an International Bluegrass Music Association female vocalist of the year, has played Carrboros ArtsCenter several times with a full band and longtime musical partner Tom Rozum. But this Wednesday she brings three-time IBMA guitarist of the year David Grier, Utah mandolinist Matt Flinner, and Todd Phillips, bassist and Grammy winning producer. Long before the release of their first album in 1999, Phillips, Grier, and Flinner ranked among acoustic music’s top artists. This ensemble will put Lewis–a wonderful fiddler, pioneer for women in bluegrass and outstanding songwriter (her songs have been covered by Patsy Montana and Kathy Mattea)–in the very best of company. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. at the ArtsCenter. $17 general admission; $15 for Friends of the ArtsCenter. For info, 929-2787 or www.artscenterlive.com.
