What began as a loose downtown Raleigh party of good Down South eats and onstage collaborations for those caught up in the blues remains much the same. Catfish, grits and cornbread reign supreme, and favorites like Open Mic Wednesdays heroes Josh Presslar and Turner Brandon return to the Berkeley Cafe for the annual Blues Barb-e-que. But as it has grown each year, so has the booking. Harvey Dalton Arnold–a Raleigh native who has flirted with fame as The Outlaws’ second bassist and as Bebe Buell’s high-school beau–headlines. The party starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14 and goes until the law will allow.
