The Nevermore Horror and Gothic Film Festival is sure to inspire fear in all–even those whose spring fever has reached full bloom. The festival, held at the Carolina Theatre in downtown Durham, March 3-5, will screen tasty horror flicks from the 1930s to the present. The highlight of the weekend will be Joshua Kane’s performance of Tales of Terror: Edgar Allan Poe, Saturday, March 4, at 8 p.m. Kane (pictured above), armed only with a candle, a stool and a table, is a master of ghostly storytelling, manipulating his audience’s fear level with his body and slight fluctuations in his creepy deep voice. If you need any proof of his talent, Kane has studied with the likes of the late, great Vincent Price and master-mime Marcel Marceau. Combining aspects of Poe’s life with characters from The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart and Hop-Frog, this one-man show will have you on the edge of your seat.
