Republican challenger B.J. Lawson garnered more than $69,000 for the same period, bring his contribution total to $215,000 for the cycle. That amount does not include a $230,000 windfall he received after Texas Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul endorsed him earlier in October. Lawson has spent $180,000 since the campaign began. The next federal filing date is Oct. 23, which covers contributions received from Oct. 1-20.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, top industries contributing to Price’s campaign are pharmaceuticals, defense contractors and lawyers. Nearly 70 percentabout $170,000of his contributions came from within N.C.’s Fourth Congressional District. He received more than $50,000 from donors in the Washington, D.C. area.
As for Lawson, a former doctor who started his own software company, his top industries are securities and investment, health professionals and computers. Fifty-four percent of his contributions were in-state, including $41,500 from the district. He received $5,300 from his hometown of Lakeland, Fla.
