Ron Paul’s endorsement of congressional candidate B.J. Lawson has translated into big bucks for the Fourth District Republican challenger. A former GOP presidential candidate, Paul sent an e-mail to his own supporters asking them to contribute to the Lawson campaign. The result: Lawson’s Web site raised more than $177,000 in one day, bringing his campaign contribution total to more than $460,000.

In Paul’s missive to supporters, he wrote, ‘A lot of folks have begun calling B.J. Lawson the next Ron Paul. The comparison is very flattering… for me.”

By comparison, Democrat David Price had raised more than $664,000 by June 30; more recent data from Price and Lawson is due Oct. 15, the next deadline for federal campaign finance reports.
