The Carrboro ArtsCenter proceeds into uncharted territory this Saturday at 7 p.m. when it hosts Slam It, North Carolina’s first audience participation slam for playwrights. Anyone can submit 2 3-minute scripts ahead of time–16 regional writers already have–and Saturday’s audience will tenderly vote on which ones make it into additional rounds. Folks with scripts can either bring their own readers or pick up a few on the fly from the regional community of actors who’ve been invited to crash the proceedings. Last we heard, there was room for a few more writers ready to try their stuff out in front of a live audience. The winning act takes home cash: a portion of the door for the evening. Interested? Call organizer Lynden Harris at 732-9299. $5 (but actors reading for playwrights get in free).
