It wasn’t planned that way, but this Thursday through Saturday offers a triple dose of the best in local hip hop. First off is The Big Bad Beat Battle with Dox, DJ Rez, Applejuice Kid, DJ Forge and more, Thursday at The Pour House in Raleigh. This DJ Battle supreme bases its tenets on beats only. In three rounds, DJs go deck to deck, using one beat each before building up to three. The roster looks like an unsung heroes list of N.C. hip-hop spinners, rounded up here with the help of 21st Records. Beats drop at 10 p.m. Tickets are $8.
Still in Raleigh but on Friday, the Justus League celebrates the recent release of the National Mayhem box set featuring L.E.G.A.C.Y., 9th Wonder, The Away Team and the usual suspects. Call the Brewery at 838-6788 or go to www.brewerync.com for details. Then Saturday night in Carrboro, mic stars Kaze, Median, Spectac and others conquer the Cat’s Cradle stage. The show starts at 9:30 p.m., and tickets are $8.
