Zurich-born international tightrope walking sensation David Dimitri (pictured) will make his 2001 American debut at the North Carolina Museum of Art this weekend. Dimitri’s circus career began at age 7 when he performed with the Swiss National Circus, Knie, as an animal trainer. At 10, he “graduated” to circus clown and later went off to get an education–at the International School for Circus Arts in Budapest, followed by a stint at the Julliard School in New York. Dimitri has also starred in the Cirque de Soleil’s 1992 production of Roi de Fou. Come see the man called “Lord of the Wire” in his one-man show in the outdoor theater in the Museum Park, this Thursday through Sunday, July 19-22. Performances begin nightly at 8:30 p.m. Call 715-5923 for details.
