For all the brothas who swear their gonna marry “Free” and all the sistahs who say the same for “AJ,” you will soon have your own personal opportunity to get your full mack on (well, maybe) when BET’s Black Star Power Tour comes to town. In addition to the hit show 106 & Park (the highest-rated music video countdown show on television) Comic View and Bobby Jones Gospel will tape on location with celebrities, performances, discussions and local flava (this means you). “This will be an opportunity for BET to get even closer to the viewers that contributed so much to our network’s 22 years of growth and success,” says Curtis Gadson, Executive VP for Entertainment Programming and Network Operations. In addition to showcasing the network’s most popular programs, Gadson says the tour will also help develop a closer bond with viewers in urban markets and help the station expand its programming for the Fall 2002 lineup. Catch the BET Black Star Power Tour Wednesday & Thursday, Aug. 28 & 29, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. Call 560-3030 for ticket information.
