your turn Message Madness 2000, Saturday, May 6: The subtitle of this daylong training session for grassroots activists is “Getting Your Message Heard by the Media and Policy Makers.” Organized by the Common Sense Foundation, a nonprofit public-policy organization, the workshops teach concerned citizens how to work more effectively with the media and legislators. Workshops focus on how to organize press conferences, use the Internet as an advocacy tool and lobby state lawmakers. The event will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the UNC School of Social Work’s Tate-Turner-Kuralt Building, 301 Pittsboro St., in Chapel Hill.
