Long criticized by LGBT advocates for neglecting to take action on workplace discrimination, it appears President Obama will be signing an executive order banning LGBT discrimination among federal contractors, the Associated Press reports.
Supporters, like the ACLU, immediately celebrated the president’s order. “Barring discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity with taxpayer funds by all federal contractors will begin to undo one of the last vestiges of legally sanctioned discrimination,” said ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero in a statement.
