A Durham County grand jury has issued indictments charging a Durham woman with manslaughter, felony child abuse and other misdemeanor charges in connection with the April 28, 2014, fatal shooting of her 9-year-old son, the Durham Police Department has announced.
Investigators allege that Amy Suzanne Pittman’s young son, Christian, was shot accidentally.
Pittman, 36, was indicted on one count of voluntary manslaughter; three counts of felony child abuse, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of failure to store firearms to protect minors.
Investigators determined that Pittman was not home at the time of the shooting, but three were there when the shooting occurred.
Pittman is not in custody at this time.
