Durham received a lot of love Saturday with the grand opening of the new Museum of Durham History, which launched with a parade through downtown.
Have a personal memory about Durham? You can share it in the Story Room. Other exhibits include a touchscreen timeline, a history of Durham’s early hospitals and “Look Beyond the Windows,” which gives viewers a 360-degree view of Durham and traces changes over time. The kids’ area includes a trunk of clothes so they can dress like their Durham hero. (Please get more creative than Coach K.)
The museum, also known as the Durham History Hub, is at 500 W. Main St., the former site of the Durham bus station. Hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Admission is free. Information on memberships and online features is available at museumofdurhamhistory.org.
