Good morning, readers.

INDY’s Lena Geller visited the Wake County institution recently in her perennial quest to dine out for under $15, and left with a lesson in traditional Southern cooking.
“Is chicken and pastry supposed to be this stripped-down? Is peach cobbler supposed to be so solid?” she writes. “I look both up on my phone. Turns out these are perfectly authentic old-school Southern renditions. I’m used to restaurants riffing on the classics. But this is just the thing itself.”
Read more below about Lena’s trip to Big Ed’s, what she ordered and whether she did it all under $15.
