It’s Monday, March 18.
Thanks to this week’s sponsor: The Nasher Museum is proud to present María Magdalena Campos-Pons: Behold. The exhibition spans nearly four decades of the artist’s work in photography, installation, video, painting and performance. Her practice embraces the eye of the artist as a tool for witnessing the world with beauty, care and empathy.
Correction: An earlier version of this email misstated the date of the second primary. The correct date of the runoff is Tuesday, May 14.
Good morning, readers.
The race for three at-large seats on the Orange County Schools Board of Education isn’t over just yet.
Following certification of the election results last week, incumbent school board member Bonnie Hauser requested a runoff election against fellow incumbent Jennifer Moore. Hauser had won 6,046 votes to Moore’s 6,528 votes in a race that’s enough to contest. Incumbent Carrie Doyle and newcomer Wendy Padilla won the first and second most votes, respectively.
Both Hauser and Moore are Democrats but, as reporter Chase Pellegrini de Paur has noted, they represent different factions on the board. Hauser is part of a more moderate group of board members, while Moore represents a progressive bloc. The second primary, which takes place May 14, will determine which bloc will have controlling majority on the board for the next two years,
All eligible voters living in the Orange County Schools district may vote for either Moore or Hauser in the second primary. Additionally, registered Republicans and unaffiliated voters who voted the Republican ballot in March will be eligible to vote in the second primary for Republican candidates for lieutenant governor and state auditor.
Have a good Monday.
