Good morning, readers.
We’ve spilled a whole lot of ink on the Triangle’s recent 2026 Democratic congressional primary in which incumbent Valerie Foushee eked out a win—by less than 1%—over Durham County Commissioner Nida Allam.
But here’s just one last (we think) NC-04 story for your Friday: I recently sat down with Allam to ask her about that very narrow loss, whether her campaign was too negative, and what’s next for her.
Even with that loss, Allam believes that she successfully pushed Foushee to take stronger stances against a proposed Wake County data center and against money from the pro-Israel lobby. And it doesn’t sound like Allam is exactly retreating from public life to mourn her loss.
“Now it’s up to me,” Allam told me. “Am I going to take these results and wallow in it and stop putting up a fight?”
Read more below. And have a good Friday.
