- Nickel Wins Wake DA Primary

Good morning, readers.
We’re coming to your inbox a little early this morning to bring you results from yesterday’s primary elections across the Triangle.
The biggest news of the night was the tight 4th Congressional District primary between Rep. Valerie Foushee and challenger Nida Allam. It was especially close in parts of Western Wake County newly added to the district. Foushee came out on top and Allam said she will seek a recount.
In Durham, candidates backed by the workersโ union swept the school board, shifting the makeup of the board at a time when the relationship between the union and the district is pretty tense. In Wake, Wiley Nickel won the Democratic primary for district attorney; he faces no opposition in the general election and is set to become just the third DA since the 1980s to lead the office. And in Orange, Sheriff Charles Blackwood fended off a challenger pitching reform.
