Good morning, readers.
Election season resumes this fall for Bull City residents as they prepare to vote on four city council seats: the three Ward seats and Durham mayor.
A whopping 19 candidates total filed in the four races before Friday’s deadline, including the four incumbents. Those incumbents will have to defend their records on key issues like housing and public safety while the insurgent candidates need to communicate their bona fides in a short period of time to prove they are worthy of dethroning the status quo.
The primary election is being held on October 7. Two mayoral candidates and six city council candidates (two from each ward) will move forward to the general election on November 4.
Read more about the candidates and what’s at stake here.
Thanks for reading.
