Alison Krauss‘ blend of traditional bluegrass and bright folk has brought surprising commercial success–first for her 1995 collection Now That I’ve Found You, and again five years later with her contributions to the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Krauss and her band, Union Station, just keep doing what they always have. If it’s a tad more polished these days, the heart’s still in the same place, drifting down a canopy country road, her voice an angelic creature soaring and swooping with the emotional ebb and flow over a burbling brook of fiddle, dobro and bittersweet acoustic guitar twang.
Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas play Booth Amphitheatre in Cary on Sunday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $32.50 lawn, $48.50 reserved.
