The Durham Bulls’ rallied too late Sunday, dropping a 5-4 road decision to the Norfolk Tides to see their four-game winning streak snapped.

Durham leads the second-place Charlotte Knights by nine games headed into the All-Star Break.

Robert Andino led the Tides with three hits for two RBI, while Matt Angle added a two hits with an RBI and Blake Davis a double and a single.

Justin Ruggiano had a three-run homer in the ninth for the Bulls.

Armando Gabino (5-0) was the winning pitcher for Norfolk while Dennis Sarfate earned his 11th save.

Carlos Hernandez (6-5) took the loss.

The Bulls played without outfielder Desmond Jennings, pitcher Jeremy Hellickson and manager Charlie Montoyo, all of them in Anaheim for the Major League Futures Game in which Team USA beat the World 9-1. Hellickson started for the winners, went two innings and was the winning pitcher while Jennings led off and scored three runs.

The Southern League All-Star Game is tonight at Huntsville. Five Mudcats – infielders Jake Kahaulelio and Mike Costanzo, outfielders Sean Henry and Dave Sappelt and pitcher Tom Cochran – are on the North roster.
