
The Carolina Mudcats lost a nail-biter in the opener of their road series with the Huntsville Stars, losing 5-3 on Taylor Green’s two-run homer in the 13th inning.

Meanwhile the Durham Bulls’ bid for their club-record 12th straight win came up far short as the host Pawtucket Red Sox walloped them 12-0.
The Bulls are back home on Thursday night against the Indianapolis Indians, while the Mudcats return home on Saturday against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Huntsville 5, Mudcats 3
Drew Anderson homered and singled for a pair of RBI in Huntsville’s victory.
Lucas Luetge (2-2) was the winning pitcher, while Jerry Gil (3-6) took the loss.
Travis Webb had a quality start for the Mudcats, firing six shutout innings and allowing two hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
Sean Henry led the Mudcats at the plate with a double and a single for an RBI while Luis Terrero also doubled and singled.
Mudcats pitcher Matt Fairel has been placed on the disabled list with a sore shoulder, and James Avery was called up from Lynchburg to replace him and will start Tuesday.
Pawtucket 12, Bulls 0
Josh Reddick had a homer, two doubles and a single for five RBI to lead Pawtucket in the romp.
Robert Coello (3-5) was the winning pitcher with a quality start, going six innings and allowing just two hits while striking out nine against one walk. Brian Baker (7-2) took the loss.
Dioner Navarro led Durham with a pair of doubles.
