
McDOUGALD-McLENDON GYM/DURHAM N.C. Central starts off the 2010 part of its women’s basketball season by renewing its old rivalry with North Carolina A&T.
At the half, NCCU is down by by three points, but A&T takes a 13-point lead with 11:39 left in the second half.
Central makes a good run at the defending MEAC champions in the last five minutes, but ends up losing 78-74.
Ta’Wuana Cook leads the Aggies with 25 points, followed by Amber Calvin’s 14, Jaleesa Sams’ 12 and Jaquayla Berry’s 11.
NCCU uses only seven players, led by freshman Joanna Miller with 25 points in 36 minutes. Blaire Houston adds 15 points and Latoya Bennett 13. J’Mia Pollock has a game-high 14 rebounds for the Eagles. Danielle DeBerry plays all 40 minutes and finishes with eight points, seven assists and two fouls.
