On Monday morning, we all learned that David Bowie—the brilliant artist who changed the landscapes of rock and pop music, just for starters—passed away at the age of 69 after an extended battle with cancer. Fans have been mourning the immense loss all week, sharing stories, memories and favorite songs in honor of a musician who refused to be anyone but himself.

• Tonight, the new bar Arcana in Durham is hosting a free screening of Labyrinth at 7 p.m. If you can’t make that one, the Carolina Theatre will also show the movie Saturday night at 7 p.m.
• Though not directly related to Bowie’s death—the event has been in the works for weeks—Little Green Pig’s Rubber Peacock! glam-rock themed fundraiser for the LGBTQ Center of Durham will surely include some nods to the man who helped make glam rock possible. Tickets are still available.
• On Saturday, Jan. 23, Raleigh’s Pour House is hosting a free, double-duty celebration. A screening of The Man Who Fell to Earth begins at 6:30 p.m., to be followed by local musicians sharing their own tributes to Bowie.
• Want to do some singing yourself? Next Thursday, Jan. 21, Flash Chorus will gather at DSI in Chapel Hill to sing Bowie songs at their weekly shindig—participants can vote for songs via Facebook. PopUp Chorus will sing Bowie’s “Heroes” and “Starman” Friday, Jan. 29, with some of the proceeds from the $10 cover charge benefiting the Be Loud! Sophie Foundation.
• In March, the annual Bowie Ball returns to The Bar in Durham, and organizers say tickets are moving quickly.
