I spent three days at the North Carolina State Fair this year, filming local bands playing in new spaces and to crowds largely unfamiliar with them. After heading up a group to tape both Spider Bags and The Love Language’s sets inside Dorton Area Friday, I set out solo the next two days to track down several Triangle favorites.
Each group met a positive reaction from the diverse fair crowds, which either lingered for a while or merely passed by for one song before moving on to one of the many other fair attractions. From the gentleman waving a turkey leg in support of The Backsliders before Charlie Daniels to the man juggling apples and dancing during Acoustic Manner, there was plenty to see and hear while these bands presented fresh material to the fair audiences.
