Skylar Gudasz‘ “Car Song” video has garnered the Durham singer-songwriter some deserved national attention. It was featured yesterday on Boxx Magazine, and Gudasz was interviewed about the song and video earlier this month by Huffington Post.
“We might always be on the road,” Gudasz laments as the song gradually builds. “Ain’t it sad that I gotta be alone.” In the video, she stares from the large windows in the Carolina Theatre’s ballroom, looking out at couples or groups of friends passing by. It’s evocative of the potentially isolating 22 or 23 hours of the day a touring musician spends not playing music; Gudasz writes at a table, strums a Les Paul with missing knobs, looks on.
