Treasures will be discovered and fortunes found during Antiques Roadshow’s 28th season, which premieres on PBS on January 8. But North Carolinians will be in for a special viewing experience this year as three episodes filmed in Raleigh air for the first time in April.

Antiques Roadshow and its hundreds of expert appraisers, volunteers, and camera crew came to the North Carolina Museum of Art earlier this year, marking their second visit to Raleigh and the fourth to North Carolina. The one-day-only event drew thousands of people from across the state, each lugging thrift-store finds and decades-old heirlooms behind them in the hopes of striking gold.

One guest did just that, according to an Antiques Roadshow press release. The unnamed participant “was astounded to find that a $15 thrift store painting was revealed to be a $100,000 treasure by Vietnamese artist Le Pho made around 1950,” the release stated.

Other surprises are sure to be in store this season, with the Antiques Roadshow having also visited Anchorage, Alaska; Sturbridge, Massachusetts; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Akron, Ohio, in addition to Raleigh.

“We have a big season ahead for fans, which includes locations rich in history alongside items and guests that reveal hidden stories, first-person experiences and some whopping values,” Roadshow executive producer Marsha Bemko said in the release. “And I was touched to see items from PBS icons Fred Rogers and Bob Ross make their way to the show.”

The Roadshow’s Raleigh episodes will premiere April 1, 8, and 15.
