Each of the golden throats of the members of the Gyuto Monks Tibetan Tantric Choir (pictured) can produce three tones at the same time–a sign of enlightenment. These Tibetan monks practice meditations found in the tantras, books that describe not just one Buddha but thousands. To focus their pursuit of enlightenment, the Gyuto Monks envision themselves as one of these Buddhas; so to hear them sing is to truly commune with the divine. Don’t let the fact that the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart is the guy who brought them over here deter you from catching their performance at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, Thursday, April 25, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $34.
