Capitalizing on, well, everything that’s happened in the past week, Democratic Senate candidate Deborah Ross released an ad today attacking her opponent, Senator Richard Burr, for still supporting Trump despite his comments about women. The ad features several clips of media figures talking about Burr maintaining his support of Trump, the last being a man who says, “Step back from the political calculus. Today is a test of character.”
Real talk: given the several women who came forward yesterday to say that Trump had sexually harassed them, and the fact that Trump’s numbers have tanked in North Carolina (and everywhere else), Burr’s continued support of Trump isn’t just despicable—it doesn’t even make sense.
The race, according to the polling aggregator RealClearPolitics, is essentially tied, and has been for quite some time. If Ross is going to win, it’s going to be on the back of Trump’s self-immolation and Burr’s refusal to drop his support of a historically awful Republican nominee.
