Opportunities abound this weekend to sharpen up your salsa skills or get tangled up in a tango. Internationally renowned dancers The Cobo Brothers take the floor at Montas Lounge this Saturday for an afternoon series of workshops in salsa, mambo and cha cha chá technique. Milton and James Cobo, who specialize in New York-style “on 2” mambo, will be offering classes in various Caribbean styles that cater to every level, from the beginner to the veteran salsero. Or, you can take tango lessons at Triangle Dance Studios with Mauricio Castro, founder of Tango Discovery dance clubs and a recognized instructor in Buenos Aires and worldwide. A daylong session of foundational tango technique begins Saturday, followed with more refined elements of the Argentinian dance on Sunday. Break in your new skills right away at a Tango Milonga (dance) to be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at Montas, followed by their regular salsa party from 10 p.m. on. There are specific technique prerequisites for some of the more advanced classes, but this is one time you don’t need two to tango–no partner necessary to sign up.
