The latest in the controversial and nationally covered series of teach-ins on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill is taking place on Friday, April 19 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Hanes Art Center Auditorium. The event, “The New War Economy: Who Will Pay?” will feature a keynote address on “the slow death of politics in the United States” by radical journalist and author Robert Jensen. Just in time to celebrate Earth Day, the president of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, Arjun Makhijani, will explore the connection between oil, war and the economy, while professors Catherine Lutz and Steve Wing will discuss who pays for and who benefits from the recent increases in military and bioterrorism spending.
