PineCone and the N.C. Museum of Art are pairing for a concert by singer-songwriter Iris Dement and N.C. traditional ballad singer Sheila Kay Adams with a showing of the film Songcatcher. Besides being an esteemed recording artist and songwriter in her own right, Dement appears as the character Rose Gentry in the period film, which chronicles the experiences of a Northern musicologist’s search for traditional music in the mountains of North Carolina. Adams, a seventh generation singer-storyteller from Madison County, served as the film’s vocal coach. The concert starts at 7 p.m., followed by the film at 9 p.m., this Saturday, June 1, at the N.C. Museum of Art in Raleigh. Call 715-5923 for details. –Angie Carlson
