If you feel far away from the “film scene” or have wondered if North Carolina even has one, July 7’s Video is an Aphrodisiac may be your starting point to getting connected. The wordshed productions event features three videos by local film- and videomaker Jesse Seay, who wants to turn the “one-way conversation” of film and video into a dialogue by using her work to foreground individuals’ relationships to the media. Sushi is an Aphrodisiac tells of Seay’s adventures in the newspaper personals; Candy’s Karaoke chronicles the story of a Hillsborough family’s dream of country music stardom, as embodied by their 10-year-old daughter, Candy; and Drowned is a Pixelvision fantasy of a woman’s lost love. The screening begins at 8 p.m. in Carroll Hall Auditorium at UNC. For more information, call 969-7121.
