Two years ago, Dickie Thompson eked out a win in the city council’s only runoff election, besting Republican Eddie Woodhouse by a little more than a thousand votes. A Democratic ally of McFarlane and chairman of the Raleigh-Durham International Airport Authority, Thompson is a Raleighite through and through. He’s generally a pro-business vote, but he also stresses the importance of workforce and affordable housing, especially on mass transit routes, and public participation in the planning of Dix Park.

Opponent Alex Moore, a thirty-year-old married father of two, prides himself on being a good budgeter who lives debt-free and would like to tighten the reins on spending. Having spent only $100 on his campaign so far, however, Moore is a long shot at best. Thompson deserves your vote.
