To everyone complaining about the cover photo of the “What’s so scary about Durham?” issue (May 24), here is all I have to say: If you yourself are not racist, how do you even notice the color of those little boys’ skin as being any different from your own?

How about if you stop worrying what everybody else thinks, content yourself with the fact that you know that we are all equal, and do something positive about it other than cause dissension and promote politically correct elitist snobbery that you feel is justified by your own life experience? Please tell me we’ve made more progress than this supercilious nonsense.
