Last Saturday afternoon, bicyclists headed toward downtown, past the future Durham Co-op Market at Chapel Hill and Kent streets.

Later that evening, Tony Morris Turner, 56, died after a car hit him while he was riding his bike on North Roxboro Street. Police are still searching for the driver of the car, thought to be a 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

Turner is the third local cyclist to be killed in a traffic accident since early October.

Pamela Lane, 57, died Oct. 3 after she was struck by a car leaving a parking lot in Chapel Hill.

Kent Winberry, 52, died on Oct. 27 from injuries he sustained in an Oct. 18 accident, in which a car turned in front of him at Duke University and Chapel Hill roads, three blocks from where this photo was taken.
